Tempo Adds Lifeline Wireless Service in Nebraska

Free phone and low-priced service plans to connect eligible families to needed services!

Atlanta, Ga. – September 14, 2014 – Tempo Telecom LLC, an industry leader in prepaid and Lifeline communications services since 1996, announced today that it has been approved by the Nebraska Public Service Commission to offer subsidized wireless phone service to eligible residents in the state.

Tempo provides wireless phone service through the federal Lifeline program, created by Congress in 1985 to ensure that all Americans have access to quality telephone service along with the security and opportunities that access affords.

In Nebraska, residents who receive benefits from any of the following programs may be eligible to receive Lifeline telephone service:

  • Temporary Assistance to Needy Families (TANF)
  • Supplemental Security Income (SSI)
  • Food Stamps
  • Medicaid
  • Senior citizen low-income discount plan offered by the local gas or power company
  • Federal Public Housing Assistance (FPHA)
  • Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP)

Tempo customers in Nebraska who are eligible for this service will receive a free wireless phone with the choice of two free monthly plans that include voice, text and data. Customers may choose the Lifeline 250 plan, which includes 250 voice minutes with text and data. Customers also have the choice of the Lifeline 150 plan, which includes 150 voice minutes with text and data, and will carryover unused minutes into the following month. Lifeline customers will also have the ability to purchase additional minutes as needed. Both of these service plans also include voice mail, caller ID, call waiting and 911 emergency number access.

“We are proud to be a Lifeline service provider, and are very excited to finally be able to provide these important services to the residents of Nebraska,” said Vincent Oddo, president and CEO of Tempo. “Tempo Lifeline services help our customers stay connected to loved ones, medical providers, childcare providers, prospective employers, and emergency service providers. The Lifeline program is of vital importance to millions of eligible low-income Americans.”
